In my classes I like to provide unique sequencing while offering clarity in movement. My priority is to be completely present and remain open for my students’ needs at any given moment. My teachings are rooted in Vinyasa Yoga (linking breath to movement) and I also include elements of meditation, pranayama (breath work), restorative yoga and knowledge of anatomy. I seek to create an environment that is supportive, calming, and welcoming to all levels. I have been said to create a soothing space with my voice leading sequences with ease and comfort at a moderate pace. I believe that by entering onto the mat and giving yourself time to go within can in fact provide clarity to step off of the mat and live life with more gratitude and compassion.
I am new to my yoga career as a certified instructor, but I have been teaching dance for over ten years, which has made the transition to teaching yoga feel so natural and comfortable. I currently teach virtually through my social media and teach in person every chance I get.
200 Hour RYT through Yoga Vida NYC
Bachelor of Fine Arts in contemporary dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts
When I’m not dancing or practicing yoga I’m most likely spending time outside in nature or in the wood shop with my partner making furniture.
My name is Emilee Harney and I have always had a deep love and passion for movement! I’m originally from North Carolina and grew up training as a versatile dancer. My dedication to dance continued into my education by attending The University of North Carolina School of the Arts where I received a BFA in contemporary dance. Upon graduating in 2018 I decided to move to New York to pursue my dance career. It was in New York that I truly fell in love with yoga having received a job at Yoga Vida NYC as a front desk employee. The decision to later become a certified yoga instructor myself was a clear and easy decision. Being surrounded in an environment that focused on movement, positivity, and dedication was a choice I wanted to make last past my employment there. So during this year I decided to do just that! In September 2020, I received my 200hr certification through Yoga Vida’s first ever virtual program. I have been teaching virtually ever since I became certified and have loved every second of it! I intend to enter into every session with a comforting and collaborative space for students to tune in energetically and spiritually. I would be more than honored for anyone to have my instruction be a part of their yoga journey.
